- The Provincial Government has provided Grant money to 43 community-led organizations to build capacity in Agriculture, Small-Business supports and local economic development.
The additional $3 million dollars in funding is to maximize opportunities for small and Indigenous communities. - Northern Lakes College has approved the disposition of the campus in Grouard to the Kapawe’no First Nation.
Kapawe’no co-located its K-12 school to the Grouard campus back in August of 2021, and that has led to growth in programming and enrollment. - Northwestern Polytechnic and AltaGas have partnered up to create a Student-based Collaboration Hub.
The new space will be welcomed for student support, which is scheduled to open in September, thus calling it the “AltaGas Collaboration Corner”. - Plenty of things have happened in the new Parliament, but one thing that hasn’t has been a official budget being tabled. - Two former UCP MLAs are hoping to bring back the party that governed the province for more than four decades.
Peter Guthrie and Scott Sinclair say they are petitioning to re-register the Progressive Conservative Party brand in Alberta. - Wheatbelt Baseball League this weekend… On Saturday, Sexsmith is in Manning at 11am, and Peace River at 4pm. Also, High Prairie is in Rycroft.
Make-up games and the playoffs will likely start next week. - CFL this weekend… Hamilton is in Toronto tonight. BC is in Montreal tomorrow. Ottawa is in Edmonton on Sunday.
- MLB… The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set against the LA Angels tonight at Roger’s Center. Eric Lauer will start for the Jays tonight.
- A chance of showers is forecasted for this weekend in the Northwest. Highs all weekend will be in the low 20’s, except for just 15 on Sunday in the Big Lakes.
Skies will clear out and warm up next week, possibly nudging 30 by mid-week.
