On June 29, 2025, the RCMP Serious Crime Branch arrested 35-year-old Branden Munro in British Columbia for the second-degree murder of 28-year-old Isiah Cordell Cardinal, which occurred on June 22 at Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
Munro has been remanded into custody and will be transported back to Alberta for further court proceedings.
The Alberta RCMP Crime Unit continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact the Valleyview RCMP.
