The Alberta Court of King’s Bench has overturned Peace River School Division’s decision to disqualify former trustee Moise Dion.
Justice Funk ordered Dion’s reinstatement, citing the board’s failure to specify the comments that led to his disqualification and deeming the imposed sanctions excessive.
Dion was initially disqualified in September 2024 for not complying with remedial actions after violating the Trustee Code of Conduct and making inappropriate comments toward an employee.
He will resume his role until the end of his elected term, and the board is required to repay any unpaid honorarium, salary, or entitlements during his disqualification period.
