The AJHL’s Grande Prairie Storm have signed a couple of players from the La Crete Lumber Barons.
Forward Cole Penner and defenseman Rydley Gerbrandt have each signed a Letter of Intent to join the Storm for the 2025-26 season.
Penner was the NWJHL’s rookie of the year scoring 27 goals and 61 assists for 80 points.
As for Gerbrandt, he put up 38 points in 35 games while anchoring the Lumber Barons blue line.
Both players helped the Lumber Barons make it to the league finals for a second straight season.
The Storm are also coming off an interesting season, making it to the AJHL finals.
Despite losing to the Calgary Canucks, the Storm did qualify to play in the Centennial Cup for the National Junior A Championship.
Grande Prairie was eliminated in the round robin part of the tournament, finishing fourth in Group A.
