- The Canadian Union of Postal Workers have put Friday, as the day where workers will be walking the picket lines.
This would be the second time in six months for services to be disrupted, following the walk-off in November and December. - Peace Regional Police are looking for the driver of a stolen quad.
The vehicle was originally stolen during the night of May 6 & 7 from 75th street in Peace River. - Peace Regional RCMP are looking for 38 year-old Gordon Robert Shpeley of Grimshaw.
He’s wanted for activities in Grimshaw, Berwyn, Brownvale, Peace River, High Level, Boyer River, Northern Sunrise County, and the County of Northern Lights. - Changes have been made to the Alberta Cabinet, just days after the Spring Sitting ended.
Peace River’s Dan Williams moves from Mental Health and Addictions to Municipal Affairs. Todd Loewen stays as the Minister of Forestry and Parks. - Many first nations around the province have been vocal in their opposition to the idea of Alberta Separation, with the main arguement being that this would violate treaty agreements. - The Town of High Level has a new promotional look. The town has unveiled a new logo moving forward, which will be released on August 1st.
- Detours are in place around the Smoky River Bridge… The road there is closed due to construction happening this week.
Those affected by weight restrictions are also affected, and have different re-routes in place. - Over $57,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald House charities, at the 5 local McDonalds in the Northwest. In Canada, over $11.3 million dollars was brought in.
- Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Grimshaw is at High Prairie, 7:15 at Jaycee Park. Also, Sexsmith is in Grande Prairie.
- In the MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game series with San Diego at Roger’s Center tonight. The Jays have lost four of their last six games.
- NHL playoffs tonight… Florida is in Carolina for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final. Edmonton is in Dallas for Game 1 of the West final tomorrow.
- A mix of Sun and Cloud with a slight chance of showers is forecasted for the Northwest this afternoon.
Highs are in the mid to high teens, with lows tonight being comfortable, at just above 5. Skies clear out by later in the week, and get quite warm by next week.
