- High Level RCMP have a local senior in custody on drug charges.
65 year-old Joanne Bulldog of High Level was arrested, and faces court dates later this month. - Construction work is set to begin on the Hot Tub project at the Peace Regional Pool in Peace River.
The $1.61 million dollar project starts in August, and is expected to be complete by the new year. - Today is the last day to submit suggestions for the proposed nuclear power plant in the Peace River area.
Public feedback and suggestions have been encouraged by the companies. - The Northland School Division is one of many divisions in the Northwest, and in the country, continuing to investigate the PowerSchool Breach, that happened in December.
In a statement, Superintendant Cal Johnson says PowerSchool did pay a ransom, as a belief of being in the best interest of customers, students, and communities. - The Alberta government is looking to have more supports available for youths dealing with mental health challenges.
Minister of Children and Family Services, Searle Turton, says they’ve invested an additional $1 million into Youth Suicide Prevention Grants. (Interview in separate story) - Scott LaPrairie, the president and CEO of LaPrairie Group of companies, passed away earlier this Spring, after a battle with cancer. Scott LaPrairie was 67 years of age.
- Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled a major overhaul of his cabinet as he looks to turn the page on the last government.
It includes some old hands, but is largely composed of new faces who have either never sat in cabinet before, or were just elected to Parliament late last month. - Wheatbelt Baseball League starts the 2025 season tonight. Peace River is in High Prairie, 7:15 at Jaycee Park.
The Rycroft Rage are the defending champs, after defeating Manning in last year’s final. - Centennial Cup National Jr A Hockey Championships continue in Calgary.
The Grande Prairie Storm will face the Northern Manitoba Blizzard tonight, but the stakes for that game will largely be determined by what happens in the first game today between Kam River and Sudbury. - NHL playoffs tonight… Game 5 Edmonton is in Las Vegas, the Oilers lead 3-1. Game 5 Florida is in Toronto, the series is tied 2-2.
- The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series at home to Tampa Bay tonight. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Ryan Pepiot.
- Clouds and a chance of showers are in the forecast for Northwestern Alberta.
Highs this afternoon are in the low to mid teens, with lows tonight a little chilly, at, or just below zero.
