Fairview, Alta. – On May 11, 2025, at 10:24 p.m., Fairview RCMP responded to a report of a 2-year-old missing from a rural residence in Clear Hills County, Alta. Fairview RCMP alerted the RCMP Real Time Operation Center (RTOC) and called in multiple partners and volunteers to assist in the search. Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services, British Colombia RCMP Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) members, Worsley Fire Department, Grande Prairie Technical Search & Rescue and over 100 community volunteers answered the call for help. The search continued overnight and, at 6:05 a.m., the Grande Prairie Technical Search & Rescue helicopter spotted the child, who had wandered approximately 1 kilometer away from the residence. The child was assessed, found to be in good health and reunited with their family.
“I would like to thank all of those who answered our call for help” said Cst. Lucas Lehman of the Fairview RCMP Detachment. “Between the various RCMP units, Worsley Fire Department, Grande Prairie Technical Search & Rescue and all the volunteers, we were able to quickly cover search ground as well as have teams dedicated to other necessary search tasks. This is a fine example of partners and community coming together to achieve an important goal.”
