Seeding season in full swing (Riley Labrecque)

Farmers and ranchers are hitting the fields, as the start of seeding season is underway in the Peace Region.

Last year’s dry and smoky conditions played a factor in production, but it was a record-setting time during harvest, as the crop got into the bin faster than anticipated.

With the start of the 2025 campaign, farmers, and their tractors are getting onto the fields with the hopes that the seeds will get down, and then the rain starts falling.

The past few years have not seen much hold-over, as well as current weather moisture, making the agriculture industry a bit apprehensive of what this spring and summer will bring.

Farmers are keeping fingers crossed that 2025 is a high yield year.

A farmer in the Smoky River region, and owner at Elite Ag. Sales and Rentals in Falher, is Riley Labrecque.
