- Peace Regional RCMP is searching for a missing person.
61 year-old Darin Walter Overholt of Peace River was last seen late last Tuesday night in the downtown area, and was possibly seen again around lunchtime on Saturday. - The Sagitawa Friendship Center in Peace River states that funding was not received from the Provincial Government to keep the Out of the Cold shelter in operation for the Spring, Summer and early Fall.
- Wildfires are continuing to burn in the Peace Region, but officials are starting to gain the upper-hand.
Despite the warm and dry weather, the Wildfire, southwest of Grande Prairie is now classified as Being Held.
Evacuation Orders have been lifted and crews from Peace River were released last night. Crews from the MD of Smoky River and Northern Sunrise County remain on site. - The Hutton Creek Fire, east of Deadwood is still listed as Out of Control, but authorities say it is about 90% contained.
Despite the fire being 2,200 hectares in size, officials say the fire is not growing rapidly, and was moving in a Northeast direction, which is away from the river, and Hwy 35. - Initial meetings are underway for the proposed construction of a bridge on Hwy 697, east of Paddle Prairie. - As part of Emergency Preparedness Week, a Provincial Emergency Test will be taking place just before 2:00 this afternoon.
Many jurisdictions are reminding residents to have this as an opportunity to be ready to respond, and take action. - Peace Regional Police is inviting residents to have coffee with discussions. The Coffee with a Cop series continues this morning at J’s Java Domain in downtown Peace River, with some important issues being chatted about.
Topics like Crime, Crime Reduction Initiatives, the public’s role in safety, and information resources will be talked about. - NHL playoffs tonight… Game 2 – Florida is in Toronto, the Leafs took the opening game. Game 1 – Dallas is in Winnipeg.
- The NHL franchise in Utah now has a name, the Utah Mammoth.
- The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series in Anaheim tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Yusei Kikuchi.
- A little more cloud cover is sticking around in the Northwest for this afternoon. The wind might pick up a little as well, a spot or two of rain night fall.
Temps will stay in the high teens, with lows tonight around 5. Same conditions are expected for tomorrow, as well.
