  1. The Northern Connections Expo, formally the Peace River Trade Show, is happening this weekend at the Baytex Energy Centre.

  2. The 22nd annual Gun and Sportsmen Show is happening this weekend at the High Prairie Sports Palace, Buchanan Center and the Curling Rink. (Darrell Basarab interview in separate story)
  3. Fire Advisories are in place for the majority of Northwestern Alberta, as the dry and sometimes windy conditions, have made the landscape very flammable.
    Fire Bans are remaining in place in Birch Hills County, as well as the town and MD of Fairview.
  4. Wildlife has been roaming into municipalities during the Spring, and authorities are reminding people not to feed them.
    Officials are saying feeding them keeps them in town, and brings other unwanted predators in behind them.
  5. Golf season is proceeding in the Northwest, with courses opening up for the season. The Mighty Peace Golf Club opens their front-nine today for everyone to enjoy.
  6. The High Prairie Spring Amateur rodeo is this weekend at the rodeo grounds. Action starts at 5pm on Saturday, and 2pm on Sunday.
  7. NHL playoffs tonight… LA’s in Edmonton, the Kings lead 2-0, Washington is in Montreal, the Capitals lead 2-0, Carolina is in New jersey, the Hurricanes lead 2-0.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend series in the Bronx tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Carlos Carrasco.
  9. A mix of Sun and Cloud continues into this afternoon in the Northwest. Highs will be the warmest of the week, at around 20 degrees. Lows tonight are around 5.
    Temps cool down on the weekend, but will bounce back next week.
