  1. A guilty plea has been presented in a case of drugs in the MD of Smoky River. Muhktar Ali of Nampa has admitted to a possession charge, after an arrest last June.
    The co-accused, Hayes Fuller-Garand of Warburg, has a stay-of-proceedings in place.
  2. Authorities in Grande Prairie have six area residents in custody on drug trafficking charges.
    Three from Grande Prairie, two from Wembley and one from Sexsmith have been charged, and are due in court in late May.
  3. Ice Advisories have ended for the West Prairie river, near High Prairie.
    Alberta Environment says water levels have stabilized and possible ice-related flooding is no longer a concern.
  4. The demolition process is continuing with the old playground near the Sports Palace in High Prairie.
    The piece of land is going to be utilized for new basketball and pickleball courts.
  5. We continue our election candidate profiles with an independant campaign in the Peace River-Westlock riding.

  6. Residents in the Northwest will be starting to think about placing orders for Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign.
    This year’s campaign runs from April 28th to May 4th, and will help charities in the Northwest in Peace River, Fairview, High Level, High Prairie, and Valleyview.
  7. The Mighty Peace Basketball League has released their schedule for the 2025 campaign.
    The season starts on May 4th with six teams present, and games are happening at Glenmary School in Peace River, and the Mile Zero Multiplex in Grimshaw.
  8. Six games in the NHL tonight… The biggest one is Carolina in Montreal. The Canadians need just one point to make the playoffs.
    The other games are Edmonton in San Jose, Vegas in Vancouver, Anaheim in Winnipeg, Detroit in New Jersey, and Dallas in Nashville.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays finish off their three-game set this afternoon at home against Atlanta. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Spencer Strider.
  10. Mostly sunny skies are shining in the Northwest this afternoon. Highs are around 10 degrees, with lows around -5.
    Skies will continue to be nice for the arrival of the Easter Bunny this weekend, with a spike in temperatures on Friday, but cooling down after that.
