Election Candidate Profiles – Darrell Teske

We continue our election candidate profiles with an independant campaign in the Peace River-Westlock riding.

Darrel Teske says he’s wanting provide a more “progressive conservative” outlook.

“I want to change the conversation to relevant issues. I want to talk about crime. I want to talk about the economy. Not just in Peace River but Westlock has their own issues and transportation and corridors for methane, for our grain, for our trees. That’s what I want to talk about.”

He says crime has been one of the main concerns he’s heard from people.

“You go to High Prairie and they’re upset because it’s kind of the same thing in Westlock too where we don’t have police service for periods of time through the night. On my job site for instance, I thought I was the only one crazy enough to actually have to stay on my job site to sleep there, but I do that for months on end to secure the place. It’s happening in High Prairie too because there are no police to have a better surveillance.”

A change in the riding boundaries for this election has seen the Peace River-Westlock riding add High Level and several other communities in the Mackenzie.
