- Fairview RCMP has a resident in custody, after multiple residential fires in town, back in April.
48 year-old Blake Everett Lee of Fairview is charged with arson to commit fraud and reckless arson to commit damage. He’s also wanted on two outstanding warrants. - Crews are continuing to work on restoring power to sections of the Northwest, thanks to yesterday’s winter storms.
Nearly 900 customers lost power in Nampa, and nearly 2,000 customers were without power in Donnelly yesterday.
Also, power was out in spots around Grimshaw, Fairview, Eureka River, McLennan, La Glace, and Watino. - The RCMP is warning drivers about hazardous road conditions across much of Alberta, advising against travel unless absolutely necessary.
Drivers can expect poor visibility, icy and snow-covered roads.
Drivers are also reminded to ensure their vehicles are prepared for winter conditions and to check local weather and road advisories before traveling. - Falher town council has written a letter to the Regional Vice-President of the Bank of Montreal, expressing disappointment with the pending closure of the Falher Branch.
Mayor Donna Buchinski says that Council is especially frustrated by the effect the closure will have on the vulerable members of the community. - The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has appointed Nicola Quigley as the Division’s new Faith Permeation Coordinator.
Quigley will be working with each school in the Division to ensure the dedication of integrating faith throughout students’ entire education. - Former finance minister and deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland is expected to launch her campaign to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this weekend.

- The light snow continues in the Northwest until this evening, when things start to clear off. However with that clearing comes much cooler temperatures.
Highs are around -10 or -15 today, but things will get cold by tonight as lows are around -30.
Highs during the weekend are only in the -20’s, but numbers will warm up again, come the beginning of next week.
