High Level RCMP lay charges after firearms complaint

High Level, Alta. – On Jan. 12, 2025 at approximately 8:00 P.M., High Level RCMP and High Level’s Crime Reduction Unit responded to a report of people at a residence, with a firearm that had been discharged toward a house and that suspects may be trying to gain access or a fight was occurring, in the area of 106 Street, in High Level.

High Level RCMP responded quickly and ensured the safety of all residents; RCMP were then able to safely arrest 3 males and 2 females.

High Level RCMP seized 2 firearms, approximately 50 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately 2800 unstamped cigarettes.

Mateo Ahnassay (29), a resident of Chateh, Alta, was charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon x 2
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition easily accessible
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license x 2
  • Mischief under $5000

Ahnassay was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded with a court date of Jan. 14, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Vermillion, Alta.

Jesse Lee Roger Chalifoux (46), a resident of Paddle Prairie, Alta., was charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon x 2
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition easily accessible
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license x 2

Chalifoux was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded with a court date of Jan. 15, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh.

Savannah Chambaud-Chalifoux (24), a resident of Bushe River, Alta., was charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense

Chambaud-Chalifoux was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where she was remanded with a court date of Jan. 15, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh.

Troy Damian Francis (20), a resident of Chateh, was charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon x 2
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition easily accessible
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license x 2
  • Failure to comply with probation order conditions

Francis was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded with a court date of Jan. 15, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh.

Jamie Hollands (31), a resident of Lethbridge, Alta., was charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon x 2
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition easily accessible
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license x 2

Hollands was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded with a court date of Jan. 15, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh.
