Superintendent Betty Turpin Announces Retirement
The HFCRD Board of Trustees accepted Superintendent Betty Turpin’s Notice of Retirement for August 28th, 2025.
Grand Opening of St. Thomas More Catholic School
Classes started last week at the new temporary school on the St. Thomas More grounds in Fairview. An official Grand Opening will take place on Monday, December 2nd. Dignitaries & Media will be invited to the event.
Board of Trustees updated Areas of Emphasis for 2024-2025
● The Board will continue their journey through Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
● The Board will identify, plan, and approve the approach to their capital priorities.
● The Board will engage and participate in provincial and local faith initiatives for Trustees, staff, students and families.
● The Board will develop a succession plan to replace its Superintendent
● The Board will prepare for the possible recruitment of new Trustees and support current Trustees running in the 2025 election.
● The Board will prepare to be equipped to share the vision as per Policy 1
● The Board will ensure student success through consistent assessment review and achievement in learning.
● The Board believes it must expand its stakeholder engagement processes to define areas of relevance in our rapidly changing world.
● The Board will continue supporting students’ and staff’s health and wellness.
● The Board will continue providing mentorship for our two new Trustees.
Student Engagement Meeting
The next Student Engagement Meeting is taking place on Wednesday, November 27th. The Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and Student Representatives gather to discuss topics brought forward by the students. Topics brought up last year included Cell Phone Usage in School, Vaping, and Racism.
