Harvest continues in Alberta at a good pace

Harvest Season continues in the Northwest, despite the damp weather and cooler temperatures.

Provincially, the harvest is 85% complete, as of the first of the month, which is still way ahead of averages.

In the Northwest, about three-quarters of the crop is in the bin.

Specifically, Spring Wheat is at 86%, Barley is at 83%, Oats are at 75%, and canola is at 62%, while Dry peas are completely finished.

Region Five: Peace (Fairview, Falher, Grande Prairie, Valleyview)
• Variable conditions in the Peace Region have allowed harvest of major crops to progress 8 per cent since last week to 75
per cent complete, ahead of the 5-year average of 59 per cent.
• Harvest progress per cent by major crop is 86 for spring wheat, 83 for barley, 75 for oats, 62 for canola and 100 for dry
peas.
• Sub-surface moisture ratings are 1 per cent poor, 31 per cent fair, 65 per cent good, 4 per cent excellent, and 0 per cent
excessive.
