Grande Prairie RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision
Grande Prairie, Alta. – On July 6, 2024, at 2:51 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP received a report of a multivehicle collision on Highway 43 at the intersection of Highway 43X. Upon arrival, emergency crews tended to the occupants of 5 vehicle involved in the collision with multiple injured people. The occupant of one of the vehicles a five-year-old resident of Clairmont, was deceased at scene. Other patients were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Although still under investigation, initial reports indicate that a Ford F350 pick-up truck was driving East on Highway 43 when it approached the intersection of Highway 43X and ran into vehicles stopped for a red light including two pickups, an SUV and a semi. RCMP remained on scene for many hours investigating the circumstances of the collision.
