Three killed, one hurt after collision on Hwy 33

High Prairie and Faust RCMP currently on scene at serious motor vehicle collision – Update#2 

M.D. of Big Lakes, Alta. – On June 29, 2024, at 1:14 p.m. High Prairie and Faust RCMP, as well as Lakeshore Police Service attended a report of a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 33, 25 kilometers South of Highway 2 in the M.D. of Big Lakes. Upon arrival, emergency crews tended to the occupant of one of the vehicles, a Toyota 4 runner, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 3 occupants of the other vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade were all deceased on scene. The deceased persons have all been tentatively identified as a 61-year-old resident of Yellowhead County Alta. , a 65-year-old resident of New Brunswick, and a 59-year-old resident of Whitecourt Alta.

RCMP remained on scene for several hours conducting an investigation. Although the investigation continues, initial reports indicate that the Escalade crossed over the center line where it collided with the Toyota.

RCMP send their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

High Prairie and Faust RCMP currently on scene at serious motor vehicle collision – Update

M.D. of Big Lakes, Alta. – High Prairie and Faust RCMP have now cleared from the earlier reported collision. Highway 33, 25 km south of Highway 2 is now passable.

High Prairie and Faust RCMP currently on scene at serious motor vehicle collision

M.D. of Big Lakes, Alta. – High Prairie and Faust RCMP, along with Laskeshore Police and emergency crews, are currently on scene at a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 33, 25 km south of Highway 2 in the M.D. of Big Lakes.  Traffic is affected in both north and southbound directions.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, as there is nowhere to re-route traffic.

RCMP will be on scene for several hours while the conduct their investigation.

An update will be provided once the Highway becomes passable.
