  1. Peace Regional RCMP have had some staff shuffling and promotions in recent weeks. Staff Seargent Dave Browne had been promoted to a position similar to Regional Commander.
    Meanwhile, Sargent Lacey Blair will continue as the Commanding Officer in Fairview, but will also take the role of Acting Staff Sargent, or acting Commanding Officer in Peace River.
  2. The Water Treatment plant in Whitelaw has developed issues, according to the MD of Fairview. Therefore the truckfill in the Hamlet has had to closed until further notice.
    The truckfill stations at Whitelaw Springs and Bluesky are unaffected, and will remain open.
  3. Clean Air Day is being celebrated today, and the Peace River Area Monitoring Program has new features and presentations to bring forward.

  4. The Alberta government is looking to provide more support for non-profit community groups.
    The Minister for Arts and Culture, Tanya Fir, says more funding has been provided for a pair of grant programs that are about enhancing community spaces. (Interview on App)
  5. The Bank of Canada has cut its overnight rate by 25 basis points, a move not seen since the beginning of the pandemic.
    The announcement puts the policy rate at 4.75 per cent, down from the 5 per cent it has been sitting at since July of last year.
  6. Colleen Klein, the wife of Ralph Klein, has died. She was 83 years old.
    She was often at his side at events, including election nights during Ralph’s time as mayor and premier. Colleen championed many charitable causes.
  7. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Manning is in Peace River and Rycroft plays in Grimshaw.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays play the third of four at home to Baltimore tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Albert Suarez.
  9. Sunny skies in the Peace, Showers in the Mackenzie, and a chance of showers in the Big Lakes.
    Highs are around 16 and 17 degrees today, with lows tonight in the mid to high single digits.
