- Even though he has no fixed address, 45 year-old Lynn Vern Pearson was last seen just before Christmas in 2021 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
He’s known to have ties to Mission BC, Prince George BC, Saskatoon and High Prairie Alberta. - Even with a lot of talk around possible droughts in Alberta, there are also concerns around flooding that could happen in the springtime.
Rebecca Schulz, the Environment Minister for the province, says some flood mapping work recently took place in the Peace Region and other areas of the province. - Peace River’s Annika Behnke and her figure skating partner Kole Sauve were named as Canada’s flag bearers for the closing ceremonies of the Winter Youth Olympic Games in South Korea.
Behnke and Sauve won gold in the pairs competition, the first-ever in that discipline. - Premier Danielle Smith has announced changes affecting transgender people in the Peace Region, including requiring parental consent for students 15 and under who want to change their names or pronouns at school.
Smith says students 16 and 17 would not need consent, but their parents must be notified. - Alberta’s Opposition is calling on the provincial government to be more transparent when it comes to the future of electricity generation and supply.
Alberta saw record-high prices in August, which came at the same time the government suddenly imposed, a moratorium on all wind, solar and geothermal projects greater than one megawatt. - The federal government is legislating a three-year delay to its plan to expand eligibility for assisted dying, including those whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.
