
News release from High Level RCMP
On Dec. 24, 2023, High Level RCMP conducted a roadside stop on a vehicle in the High Level area. The vehicle failed to stop for police, until a rear passenger jumped out from the moving vehicle. The male left on foot but returned a short time later and forcefully removed the driver, taking the vehicle without consent.
The male then drove to a residence in the Bushe River area, exited the vehicle and attempted to enter the residence. After failing to enter the residence, he ran into a wooded area and was located and arrested by Police without incident. Search of the vehicle revealed brass knuckles, bear spray, a shotgun, ammunition and 21g of cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher Kidney Schellenberg (40), resident of Bushe River, was charged with multiple offences, including:
Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
3 weapon-related offences;
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Failure to comply with release order (x7)
Robbery
Schellenberg was remanded into custody and is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in High Level on Jan. 3, 2024.
