What to do in case of an emergency. That’s what’s being reviewed in Peace River on Tuesday.
Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is hosting an emergency disaster plan meeting.
Representatives from the Peace River School Division, Conseil Scolaire du Nord-Ouest, the Peace Regional RCMP, Peace River Fire Department, the Town of Peace River, Northern Sunrise County, ATCO Gas, ATCO Electric as well as ambulance services are expected to attend.
The purpose of the gathering is to review current procedures, and establish a joint community effort to respond to emergency scenarios within the Town of Peace River.
“I am really thankful for the organizations that are coming to our Central Office to have this important conversation,” says Superintendent Betty Turpin. “As was the case with the lock-down at the Mile Zero Multiplex last year, a disaster scenario affects many different organizations. The safety of our students, staff and communities is paramount.”
“I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to have proper planning and procedures in place in case of an emergency,” says HFCRD Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator Shane O’Connor. “Included in our agenda is discussing an emergency scenario within town, and how each organization should respond. It’s critical to remain calm during a disaster and having a plan in place will be extremely helpful to our division, as well as our community.”
The six-hour session gets going at 9am (April 4th) at the HFCRD office.
