NWJHL Playoffs In Second Round

Four teams are left in the post-season in the NWJHL. Round two will begin on Friday night. The matchups will see the Fort St. John Huskies against the Dawson Creek Kodiaks, while the Grande Prairie Wheat Kings will take on the Sexsmith Vipers.

The best-of-five first round saw Grande Prairie sweep the Beaverlodge Blades, Sexsmith beat the North Peace Navigators in four games, while Dawson Creek needed the full five games to get past the La Crete Lumber Barons. Fort St. John meanwhile had a first round bye.

Game 1 – Friday in Grande Prairie (8 PM)
Game 2 – Sunday in Sexsmith (2 PM)
Game 3 – Monday in Grande Prairie (8 PM)
Game 4 – March 9 in Sexsmith (8 PM)

Fort St. John vs Dawson Creek

The Huskies are the defending league champions, but you’ll have to go back a bit to find the most recent titles for the other teams still standing. Grande Prairie’s last league title was in 2013, Dawson Creek’s last title was in 2002, and Sexsmith’s only championship was in 1998.

The winner of the NWJHL championship will advance to the Alberta Junior B Provincials which start on April 6 in Okotoks.
