The HISTORY of Stuff A Bus…
In the mid 1950s, not long after it took to the airwaves, Peace River Broadcasting started the Toys 4 Tots toy collection initiative throughout the Peace Country to support the Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper program. At the time, the Salvation Army’s service area spanned from Slave Lake to Hay River. Peace River Taxi and Greyhound bus lines helped transport all donations to Peace River for sorting and distribution. Over time, the Salvation Army’s service became smaller, but the giving didn’t stop as many regional communities and towns started up their own programs to collect and distribute donations. In 2013, Peace River Broadcasting added their day-long Stuff A Bus event to collect toys and food items in support of Toys 4 Tots, Christmas Hampers and the local food bank. Luxliner provided the bus on site for the first few years. Mighty Peace Powersports later came onboard… our Stuff A Bus partner to this day. With the evolution of the programs and service areas, Peace River Broadcasting transitioned management of Toys for Tots to the Salvation Army in 2020… but we continue to work together in promotion to ensure its continued success.
