On Oct. 31, 2021 at approximately 2:50 p.m. the Grande Prairie RCMP responded to call of a protest in the Grand Banks area of Grande Prairie. The protest was adjacent to Grande Prairie UCP MLA Tracy Allard’s residence.

Grande Prairie RCMP located 15 to 20 people protesting. The protest was not impeding the flow of traffic or Halloween trick-or-treaters in the area. RCMP officers did request the removal of a “noose” hung from a wooden post and one of the protesters removed the post from display.

RCMP stayed on scene to ensure a safe environment for residents and protesters. The Grande Prairie RCMP conducted an investigation into the symbolic “noose” but were unable to identify the person responsible for bringing it and displaying it. As their intentions could not be determined, no charges were laid out of this incident.

MLA Allard responded to the protest outside of her home the next day in a Facebook post, expressing her sadness in the act. Allard expressed in the post to contact her office by giving out the number and to” leave my family and my private life alone. Enough is enough!
