Alberta is officially “Open for Summer”

On July 1, the province launched into Step 3 of the “Open for Summer Plan”.

Virtually all Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, with a select few in places for high risk settings.

The provinces mask mandate has been lifted, businesses and places of worship can now operate at full capacity and there is no restrictions on gatherings; indoor or outdoor.

Mandatory isolation and quarantine rules remain in place still.

Masking will continue to be required in limited and specific settings:

  • Continuing care and acute care settings.
  • Public transit, taxis and ride sharing.

The “Open for Summer Lottery” also announced the winner of the first $1 million prize, which went to Tracey McIvor of Langdon, Alberta.

Hundreds of Albertans that entered the draw will also receive Calgary Stampede family admissions and ride packages, rodeo and performance packages and general admissions. The winners will be notified directly.

There will be two additional draws of $1 million in August and September for Albertans that are fully vaccinated with two doses of vaccine.

Premier Jason Kenney announced in the last week of June an additional draw at the end of July filled with sports prize packages from the CFL and NHL. Two adventure trip prizes on a Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf coach and an overnight stay at the Juniper Hotel in Banff for the August draw were also added at the end of June.

Albertans 18 and older who registered for the first draw, have been automatically entered for the subsequent draws. To register for the lottery and for a complete list of rules and eligibility requirements, please visit alberta.ca/lottery.
