The Misery Mountain Ski Hill will be open for the season starting this weekend, but like most places right now they do have to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
Etienne Schaffert, the general manager of Misery Mountain, says while skiing is an activity where it is easier to social distance, there are still some rules that users have to follow.
“What we’re is we’re making masks and face coverings are required at all times. The coverings can be from a turtleneck or a face mask or anything of the sort that people typically wear anyways. Alongside that, we also have capacity limits, directional arrows and other policies such as that.”
Schaffert believes that they could get a lot more people at the ski hill this season, because of a number of people that were stuck at home because of the pandemic.
He adds that they haven’t sold a lot of season passes for this year, but he believes they could make that up with single day tickets and other options.
“We feel that a lot of people are moving towards new products that we’ve come out with such as the Misery Card. It’s a discount card that you can purchase and it gives you access to 35% discounts all throughout the season. A lot of people are moving away from season passes, that had an effect on our regular cash flow.”
The last ski season ended a couple weeks earlier than normal because of the onset of the pandemic in March.
