The Grande Prairie RCMP have charged a nineteen year old male with 19 criminal offences after a vehicular collision, and finding loaded firearms in his possession.
On April 9, 2020, around 2 p.m. members of the Grande Prairie RCMP were responding to an unrelated matter when they saw a motor vehicle collision on 121 Ave near 100 St. When police arrived to the scene, witnesses tipped that a male involved in the accident had fled the area.
Police later located the male and arrested him for fleeing the scene of the accident, and he was searched where police found two fully loaded firearms.

Carrying a concealed weapon x2

Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2

Possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized x2

Possession of a loaded restricted firearm without a licence x2

Failing to report finding a firearm

Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
A Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Hearing was conducted and the male remains in custody until April 15, 2020; when he is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court.
