Peace River Town Council will meet for the final time this year tonight. One topic on the agenda includes the fate of a community recreation facility on the south side of town. Council will be discussing the next steps for the Al Adair Recreation Centre on 98th Street. The facility has been closed since August 31st. According to documents from the town, council has been presented with four options. It can: sell the property, lease it, re-purpose the facility, or hear expressions of interest from then community on what it wants to see done with the rec centre.
There are also four organizations applying for grants under the community development or recreation/sports development grant programs. North Peace Performing Arts, the Peace River Curling Club, the Peace River Winter Swim Club, and the Comite Culturel de St. Isidore will be at council to answer questions about their applications.
