The government just announced $1.4 million to fund 29 projects to raise awareness of the crisis – $220,000 which would go towards projects in the north.

The Peace River Regional Victim Services is one of the northern community groups to receive grant funding. The group has been awarded $45,000 for its Eye of The Storm Campaign. The campaign is set to raise public awareness of the drug crisis by sharing local resources through educational sessions and a media campaign.

The Alberta Rural Development Network has also received $75, 000 to provide 10 rural communities with harm reduction sessions, naloxone kits and resources to decrease stigma in their community.
