The United Conservative Party (UCP) continues to organize almost a week after they picked their inaugural leader.
And now, each of the constituency associations is now starting to pop up, including in the Peace River constituency.

The association held its very first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, in which they elected their first executive.
Cornie Teichroeb, a resident of La Crete who is the Chief Financial Officer for Knelsen Sand & Gravel in the area, was picked as the riding association’s first president.
He told the Trending 55 Newsroom that he’s excited at the opportunity to lead such an esteemed group of individuals.
But, Teichroeb adds that adds that the real work now begins.
“Our immediate plans are to try to get some fundraising going,” he said. “And we plan to get more people involved in the process of building policy for the UCP. It’s a new party, and we’re going to rebuild it from the ground up.”
He adds that when electing the executive, they tried to keep it as regionally inclusive as possible.
“We’ve structured the new board so we have better representation for the whole riding,” said Teichroeb. “So we have half of the executive who are from what we call the south end of the constituency, and the other half from the north end. So, we’re trying to be a little more inclusive, giving the sheer size of this constituency.”
Also on the agenda is finding a candidate to challenge NDP incumbent Debbie Jabbour in the next provincial election.
“We expect that in the spring of 2018, we’ll have a candidate in place,” Teichroeb said. “We’ve had three, so far, that have declared their intentions to run already. But before we run a nomination campaign, we need to put a little policy in first for our association.”
The UCP is holding their province-wide AGM in May of 2018, which will include forming policy for the party for the new party.
