Peace River’s Midget & Bantam Teams Split Games Over Weekend

The Peace River Midget & Bantam AA Hockey Teams each split their games over the weekend.

Over on the Midget side, the Royals lost on Saturday to the Strathcona ACT Warriors. Robert Lemay got two points during the loss, scoring both a goal and an assist.

Also scoring goals included Eric Dentinger, Ashton Wald and Jordy Greschner, with Eric Lee, Phoenix Dumas, Kyle Yaniuk and Carson Schumann each netting an assist.

As well, Dominic Bernetic made 24 saves in net for the loss.

But, just yesterday, the Royals did win their game convincingly, downing the Camrose Vikings 5-2. Mason Ward was able to make 24 saves while in net.

Tanner Lins and Jonathan Noskey each scored a goal and two assists for the team. Connor Banks got a goal and an assist, while Dawson Gour and Kevin Schlack each netted a goal on the board. As well, Ashton Wald also managed to register an assist during this match-up.

The Royals host their next two games this weekend at the Baytex Energy Centre. They welcome the Northeast BC/Yukon Trackers on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 7 PM. Two days later, they host Sherwood Park at 12 Noon.

Heading over to the Bantam side, the Sabres played against the Parkland Athletic Club Timberwolves based out of Spruce Grove. And in this case, it was the first game that the Sabres won.

Peace River won this game on Saturday 7-5 with Nick Power scoring two of the team’s goals. Corey Isaac scored a goal and two assists. Karter Fournier also got a goal and an assist, while Mason Lavoie, Malakie Muskwa and Tristan Thompson each put a goal on the board.

As well, Gage Gillon registered two assists during the game. Also scoring assists include Mohammed Fayad, Harlan Noskey and Mathieu Maisonneuve.

In net, Matthew Ireland was able to stop 23 goals from making it in.

But in their game yesterday, it was the Timberwolves who came out on top. They ended up doubling the Sabres 6-3.

Jesse Schweigert was able to make 47 saves in net for his effort.

Scoring for the team was Mohammed Fayad, Corey Isaac and Ty Cousins, while Hudson Chalifoux, Mason Lavoie, Hayden Bandurka and Harlan Noskey each registered an assist.

The Sabres have just one game this weekend, when they hit the road to Fort St. John to take on the Flyers on Sunday, October 29.
