15-year-old Boy Remains Missing in Smoky River

The search continues for a missing 15-year-old boy in the Smoky River.

Spirit River RCMP responded to a call roughly 10 kilometres from the Watino Bridge on Friday, July 28, 2017 at around 8:35 PM, where the boy was with a group swimming when he got caught in an undercurrent, and was pulled below the water surface.

Witnesses say that the boy did come back up, but then drifted down the river due to the current, and went under again.

Mounties from McLennan, Peace River and Grande Prairie later joined in the search, as have Peace River Search and Rescue and the Eaglesham Fire Department.
