Offering hands-on, in-person training in Motorcycle Mechanic, Carpentry, Welding, Pre-Employment Heavy Equipment, Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide programming with student housing available! PLUS, access NLC’s established Supported Distance Learning programs—study online from anywhere while still accessing in‑person supports at the Fairview Campus.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT – Interested in a trade but not sure where to start? Pre-employment programs at Northern Lakes College give you the skills to enter the workforce and become an apprentice. Learn first-year apprenticeship theory, earn safety tickets, and gain hands-on, on-the-job experience. NLC offers Pre-Employment Carpenter, Electrician, Heavy Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic, Pipe Trades and Welder, face to face at select campuses with student housing available in Slave Lake, High Prairie, Wabasca and Fairview!
UNIVERSITY STUDIES – At Northern Lakes College, you can get a university-level education right from your home community! With programs offered through Supported Distance Learning, you can earn university credits towards an NLC certificate or diploma, or the University of Calgary’s Community-Based Bachelor of Education program, a collaboration between NLC and the U of C’s Werklund School of Education.
