Summer projects are on the horizon for the Lesser Slave Watershed Council, and with the Annual General meeting in the rear-view mirror, organizers are getting ready for the community events taking place.
One big event on the calendar is the Kids can Catch event at Winagami Park on Saturday July 11th.
As part of Alberta’s Free Fishing weekend, the Council is hosting this with a free BBQ, games, giveaways, and of course, lots of fishing.
The Council does advise participants to bring their own gear, but equipment can be borrowed from the Council.
No fishing license is required, but Alberta Sport-fishing regulations are to be adhered to.
The program was developed as a way to invite residents to have fun and fish, especially with the youngsters on fishing, fish conservation, and responsible angling.
The day is fun, the event is FREE, and here’s hoping the fish are biting.
