A local minor hockey volunteer has won an award for his work in player development and leadership.
Damon Jeffs was a recipient of Hockey Alberta’s Order of Merit – Development Award for the 2025–26 season, he says he was surprised about getting the award.
“It’s something that I think we just expect everybody to do and I didn’t realize there was an award for doing the stuff and giving your time. It was nice and really unexpected.”
Jeffs says a lot of his work is about “providing opportunities” for kids in the community.
“We have different programs that enable kids to be able to experience hockey for the first time and then there’s a lot of kids that really want to spread their wings and they’re excited about playing hockey so we try to give them that opportunity to get a little bit more and develop a little bit more and feed their desire to become better.”
