High Level Town Council has approved its 2026 Operating and Capital Budget, delivering a 3-point-8 percent municipal tax reduction while holding utility rates and fees at current levels.
The budget, approved May 11th, means the average homeowner with a property assessed at 500-thousand dollars will save about 212 dollars annually — roughly 18 dollars per month.
Town officials say the budget was built through a detailed review of spending, resulting in more than 1 million dollars in organizational savings and nearly a 6 percent reduction in total expenditures, while protecting core municipal services and maintaining reserve funding.
Mayor Josh Lambert says accountability and affordability were the focus, adding council carefully reviewed spending line by line to ensure tax dollars are being used effectively.
The 2026 operating budget includes 19-point-4 million dollars in revenue and 17-point-4 million in expenditures, with more than 2 million directed into reserves for future infrastructure and debt reduction.
Meanwhile, the 13-point-3 million dollar capital budget funds 26 projects, including continued work on the 100 Avenue downtown corridor renewal, new fire services equipment, recreation facility upgrades, and replacement of aging utility infrastructure.
