Falher Butcher Shop Clarifies April Fools Post After Customer Confusion

A local butcher shop in Falher is clearing the air after an April Fools Day social media post was taken literally by some of its customers.

Simard Butcher Co says a Facebook post promoting an “AI Burger” was intended as a lighthearted joke to commemorate the day, but not everyone realized it.

The post described a fictional product involving “AI beef” and advanced food technology. While some followers caught on to the April 1 humour, others took the announcement seriously which in turn raised concerns.

Nichole Simard, co-owner of the store says, “We thought we’d enjoy a little laugh with the community, but ultimately we need people to know we stand for high quality, pure Canadian beef, and that will never change.”

Simard Butcher Co says it heard from customers who expressed negativity believing the information was true. They emphasize nothing about its product lineup has changed, and it continues to focus on providing the same cuts and high-quality beef products customers have come to expect.

The joke that got out of hand highlights how easily online posts; especially around April Fools Day, can be misunderstood when not everyone sees the full context or follow-up comments.

Simard Butcher Co says it hopes the clarification helps reassure customers and invites anyone with questions to reach out directly or stop by the shop.
