PRSD Holding Special Meeting Regarding Red Earth Creek School Project

prsd

The Peace River School Division (PRSD) Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Thursday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. to discuss the Red Earth Creek School project. The meeting will take place at Central Operations in Grimshaw, with options to attend in person or online via Google Meet.

Red Earth Creek School currently has 108 students, marking an increase of 14 students since June 2025. The growing enrollment has highlighted limitations in the school’s existing facility, including washrooms. The facility only has one staff washroom, one female student washroom with two stalls, and one male student washroom with one stall and two urinals.

At the December 2025 Board meeting, Superintendent Jeff Thompson provided an update on the new school construction. He confirmed that the tender package has been released, with ground-breaking anticipated this spring and project completion expected in fall 2027 or early 2028.

At the meeting, PRSD also noted that they have been informed no additional funding is available for temporary washroom facilities in the existing school, leaving current students and staff to manage with the existing limited facilities until the new school is complete.
