  1. Residents in McLennan and area are being called to rally behind École Providence as concerns grow about the school’s future.
    A strategy session has been scheduled for tonight at 6:30 pm at the school, where parents, residents, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend in person or online.
  2. Grande Prairie authorities have two residents of Montreal in custody on counterfeit charges.
    Over $16,000 in counterfeit currency, plus fake stickers, cell phones and bank cards were all seized, in an investigation dating back to last summer.
  3. 21 new RCMP officers have been recruited and deployed throughout the province to ensure safety on the streets.
    In this area, detachments in Chateh, Fort Vermilion, High Prairie, McLennan, Red Earth Creek, and Valleyview, will see new officers on duty.
    As well, Alternate Service Delivery Models for remote and isolated locations are being used, including an Implemented Fly-In Model in Fox Lake.
  4. Residents in Clear Hills County are being warned of potentially fraudulent correspondence.
    An increase in spam and false e-mails have surfaced, claiming to be from the municipality.
    Residents are urged to verify the legitimacy of the communication, before responding.
  5. Mercer Peace River is continuing with their feasibility study of a Carbon Capture Demonstration Project being conducted on-site. (Cal Dakin Interview in separate story)
  6. Falher’s Easton Doran has signed with the WHL Edmonton Oil Kings, who drafted him two years ago.
    The WHL starts the playoffs Friday, with local players on teams in the post-season.
  7. AJHL playoffs tonight… Game 4 – Grande Prairie is in Lloydminster, the Storm lead 3-0.
  8. Two games in the NHL tonight… The Rangers are in Toronto, and Boston is in Buffalo.
  9. The Major League Baseball regular season starts tonight with the Yankees in San Fransisco, against the former New York Giants.
    The Toronto Blue Jays start the season on Friday, at home to the Athletics.
  10. A couple more centimetres of snow today in the Peace and Big Lakes, while there’s a chance for some flurries in the Mackenzie.
    There will be a couple more days of cooler temperatures in the negative teens, but things will warm up soon.
    The weekend and early next week could see it get above 0 degrees.
