- Premier Danielle Smith is seeking security clearance to receive briefings on foreign interference in the province, but the Opposition leader she shouldn’t be trusted with it.
- The province’s health authority is alerting the public over some potential measles exposures.
More than 2,000 cases have been documented in Alberta since the outbreak began last year. - The North Peace Performing Arts Festival is continuing into this weekend in the Peace Region. Over 300 participants are tasking in the show, which runs until March 27th.
- The Battle of the Badges Charity Hockey game takes place tomorrow night at the Baytex Energy Center in Peace River.
Local personnel will engage on the ice, with various aspects of the game, and event going to local charities. - Minor Hockey Provincials are continuing this weekend, as the U-18 Female B tournament is happening in Fairview.
Eight teams are present, with a champion crowned on Sunday. - The Provincial 2A Basketball championships are continuing at Peace River and Glenmary High Schools in town.
A dozen teams and over 350 athletes are present with the Boys at the High School, and the Girls at Glenmary. A champion is crowned tomorrow afternoon. - NPHL playoff this weekend… Dawson Creek is in Manning tomorrow, with the Comets up 3-0.
- AJHL playoffs this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm open the playoffs at home to Lloydminster. Game 1 is tonight, Game 2 is tomorrow.
- Five games in the NHL tonight… Florida’s in Calgary, Carolina is in Toronto, New Jersey is at Washington, Colorado is in Chicago, and Anaheim is in Utah.
- Today is the first day of spring, but it’s gonna feel more like winter.
The Peace and Big Lakes are looking forward to 5-10 cm of snow, while the Mackenzie deals with a little sunshine.
Digits are below zero today, and will be a little cooler, and possibly whiter, next week.
