On March 16, 2026, Peace River RCMP responded to a report of male pointing a firearm in Woodland Cree First Nation.
Assisted by Red Earth Creek RCMP and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services, officers pursued suspect who fled into bush.
The police dog successfully located him.
The next day, a search warrant at a local residence led to the recovery of the firearm.
Kyle Edward Ominayak, 35, of Cadotte Lake, was charged with multiple offenses, including assault a weapon and flight from police.
He in custody and is scheduled to appear in Peace River court March 23, 2026.
