Alberta Again Considering Ending Clock Changes

alarm-clock
Alberta is once weighing whether to end the practice of changing clocks twice a year after British Columbia announced Monday that it will permanently remain on daylight savings time.
This has prompted our province to again consider a no clock change approach to create greater consistency across western provinces.
In a statement, the office of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said the developments in neighbouring provinces raise the question of whether Alberta should also move to end the time change. The government says it will take the matter into consideration and if such a move would be in the best interest of Albertans.
The issue has been debated in Alberta before. In 2021, a binding referendum asked voters whether the province should adopt year-round daylight saving time and eliminate clock changes. The proposal was narrowly defeated, with just over 50% voting against, in a margin of just over 5,000 votes.
For now, clocks in Alberta are set to move ahead this Sunday, March 8, and will “fall back” again on November 1.
