On February 18, 2026, between 1 and 2 p.m., a fatal collision occurred on Highway 49, just south of Highway 676 in the Municipal District of Smoky River.
Dashcam footage revealed that a black Ford F150 overtook a semi-truck hauling lumber, placing it on a head-on collision course with another semi carrying petroleum.
The petroleum tanker attempted to evade the pickup, resulting in the semi rolling into the northbound ditch.
The semi’s driver was later pronounced deceased.
The Ford F150 fled the scene.
McLennan RCMP are seeking public assistance in identifying the vehicle, described as a newer model black Ford F150 with black rims, a black soft roll-up truck bed cover, and silver trim on the grille, side vent covers, and side mirrors.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area during the specified time is urged to contact McLennan RCMP.
