Big Lakes County has added to it’s fire fleet with a new Urban Interface Pumper Fire Truck. The fire truck will be stationed at the Faust Fire Hall and replaces a 24-year-old unit. It was approved by Council as part of the County’s 2022 budget.
Reeve Tyler Airth says Council remains focused on ensuring emergency crews have the tools they need to protect residents and visitors. He says the new pumper strengthens the County’s response capabilities and highlights its dedication to community safety and well-being.
Manufactured by Acres Industries in Manitoba, the truck was delivered February 11. It seats five firefighters, carries 3,600 litres of water, and features a pump rated at 4,000 litres per minute. The versatile unit is equipped to respond to wildland fires, structure fires, and other emergency situations, and is expected to serve the Faust area for the next 20 years.
Fire Chief Jason Cottingham thanked Council for its continued support, noting the truck is part of a broader strategy to replace aging equipment with multi-purpose apparatus that improve efficiency and response times.
A community barbecue will be held at the Faust Fire Hall this spring to officially introduce the new truck to residents, with details to be announced.
