Policing Changes and STARS Impact Presented at Grimshaw Council Meeting

print-3

Town of Grimshaw Council received updates from both the Peace Regional RCMP and STARS during its most recent meeting on February 11, with discussions on future policing priorities and the impact of critical care air response in the area.

Staff Sargent Lacey Blair with Peace Regional RCMP informed Council that beginning in February 2026, Alberta RCMP detachments will transition to a new Community Priorities Plan (CPP) for the 2026–2027 cycle. The CPP will replace the existing Annual Performance Plan (APP) and is designed to better identify and track policing priorities at the community level.

Council also heard from STARS Senior Municipal Relations Liaison Glenda Farnden, who presented data outlining the organization’s role in the area. Over the past 15 years, STARS has completed 61 missions landing in the area for emergency responses, transfers, and search and rescue operations.

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place February 25, in the Council Chambers.
