At its most recent council meeting on February 9, Peace River Town Council received a 2025 incident response summary from Director of Protective Services Dan Cress during its. During last year, a total of 1,175 enforcement files were generated, primarily related to traffic matters, public complaints, parking issues and unsightly premises.

Council also heard that the Peace River Fire Department responded to 456 calls in 2025, a notable decrease from 650 calls in 2024. The majority of responses were alarm calls. Fire crews attended 23 structure fires, 53 exterior fires and seven vehicle fires, along with 86 medical responses.

Council also approved the purchase of its two Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD trucks that are nearing the end of their lease terms. The approved purchase cost is up to $36,000, funded through the Tax-Supported Capital Reserve. The average buyout cost per unit is $17,867.13, compared to an average annual lease cost of $20,021 per truck. Both vehicles were assessed as being in good working condition with low mileage.

Council defeated a motion to waive development and building permit fees for the Mighty Peace Barbell Club, a local non-profit organization. Administration noted that waiving fees on an individual basis is not common practice and could create precedent for similar requests.

Finally, council approved a development permit application for the installation of fascia and associated signage for the upcoming Wendy’s development on West Hill.
