Peace River School Division
The Peace River School Division extends its sincere condolences as we mourn alongside the community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. As educators, our hearts are with the students, staff, families, and all those impacted by the tragic incident that occurred yesterday, February 10.

For Staff
Comprehensive support is available through our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provided by ASEBP and GreenShield+. You can find detailed instructions on how to access these benefits by visiting the staff portal.
Additionally, if you identify a student who may require support from PRSD’s student support services, please approach your Principal, who will take the necessary steps to connect the student with one of the Division’s social workers.

A tragedy like this can be confusing and upsetting for students, and it’s natural for parents and caregivers to feel unsure about how to talk with their children or offer support.

Our hearts are with the community of Tumbler Ridge following the tragic events that have unfolded.
We are holding the families, friends, first responders, and all those impacted in our thoughts.
Across Canada, we stand together in grief and in support of one another. For this reason, the Town of High Prairie will keep the flag lowered at half mast for the next 7 days.

The Village of Berwyn has lowered its flags to half-mast effective February 11, 2026, for a period of seven days in solemn recognition of the lives lost in the recent tragedy in Tumbler Ridge.

Northland School Division is deeply saddened by the tragic events at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and Tumbler Ridge Elementary School in School District No. 59 (Peace River South).
