The Grimshaw Regional Healthcare Attraction and Retention Committee (GRHARC) has announced receipts for this year’s Healthcare Scholarship Program. Four area students each have been awarded $3,000 to support their studies.
The annual scholarships support students pursuing healthcare and medical-related studies, with the goal of encouraging graduates to live and work in the region.
“This marks our fourth year of awarding scholarships to local residents, and we continue to see a strong pool of highly qualified applicants,” said GRHARC Chairperson Stacey Messner in the recipient announcement.
The 2026 recipients are:
Kayla Stalker (MD of Peace) – Counselling Psychology, Athabasca University
Evangeline Schaffert (MD of Peace) – Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Northwestern Polytechnic
Mya Petkus (County of Northern Lights) – Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation, University of Lethbridge
Talia Yasinski (County of Northern Lights) – Lab and X-Ray Technology, NAIT
The Committee says the program helps strengthen local healthcare by supporting students committed to building careers in the region.
