  1. An auto-theft project in the Red Deer area has netted warrant for a man from Big Lakes County.
    In late January, executed a search warrant in Mirror, east of Red Deer, and arrested a 47 year-old man from Swan Hills.
  2. The provincial government has been collecting feedback from people across Alberta on how nuclear power can be brought into the energy mix. (Chantelle De Jong Interview in separate story)

  3. Despite the times right now, the Peace region continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in Alberta.
    Statistics Canada states that only 5.2% of people are unemployed in the area, that includes Banff, Jasper, and Drayton Valley.

  4. Peace River honoured the business community over the weekend, but so did Clear Hills County.
    Their awards and appreciation Banquet was held at Cherry Canyon Recreation Centre in Bear Canyon.

  5. Many Snowbirds from the Peace Region are still flying south for the winter, but one destination is having trouble, because of lack of fuel.
    Several airlines have suspended flights to Cuba, due to a shortage of aviation fuel.

  6. NWJHL playoffs tonight… Game 3 – Fairview is in FSJ, with the series tied at 1.
  7. NPHL playoffs tonight…
    Game 2 – Manning is in High Prairie, Grande Prairie is in Falher, and Spirit River is in Valleyview, with the Comets, the A’s and the Rangers all winning the first game.
    As well, Game 3 – FSJ is in Dawson Creek, with the series tied at 1.
  8. At the Winter Olympics, Canada has another medal, taking silver in the mixed 2,000-meter relay.
    Canada has three medals at Games, a silver and two bronze to sit 10th on the medal table.
    The Norwegians and the Italians lead with 11, followed by the Japanese with 7.
  9. Sunshine for this week is happening in the Peace and Big Lakes, while clouds stick around in the Mackenzie.
    Highs this afternoon are around 0 in the south, and -12 in the north.
    Warmest day of the week is expected to be Thursday, when fishing season makes an appearance, featuring a chinook.
